Art of the Buzz

“The Buzz”… It’s that distinctive sound of an electric football game when the switch is turned on, setting the players into motion.

Mention electric football to anyone who has ever played the game and “the buzz” is one of the things that most often comes to mind.

“The Unforgettable Buzz” is the title of the only book to date written that chronicles the history of electric football.

There are “Buzzball” electric football products, a “Buzzball” Electric Football League and an electric football tournament called “Buzzfest”.

“Gridiron Buzz Network” is a YouTube Channel featuring electric football videos and a line of electric football products.

In January and February 2023, we had the opportunity to present to the public, an exhibition of a collection of artifacts and creative works of art from the past and present history of Electric Football.

It was displayed in the Pryor Art Gallery – Hickman Building on the campus of Columbia State Community College, Columbia, TN

It was not the first exhibit of this kind to be presented. It had been done 10 years earlier, curated by a member of the Miniature Football Coaches Association, Chris Bobst and repeated again 2 years later. This “Electric Football Game Art Show” was displayed in an art gallery, the ADA Gallery of Richmond, VA.

Here is an interesting article regarding this show

We were given another opportunity to present the “Art of the Buzz” in 2025 with an exhibition at the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center in Hendersonville, TN. This exhibit was an updated display of vintage game boards and works of art not previously exhibited and featured, a “Tennessee Titans Nissan Stadium” creation by EF Artist Ron Mango of Murfreesboro, TN.

The highlight of each of these shows is always the opening receptions. Here are some slide show photo galleries of each of the 2023 and 2025 editions of the “Art of the Buzz”.
