The Miniature Football Coaches Association (MFCA) was originally founded and created in 2007 as “a 501c7 association with the following mission. “The MFCA mission is to assist the electric football hobbyist by providing an online meeting place for the direct purpose of discussing, promoting and educating the user about the game and hobby of electric football and provide an annual convention which promotes all levels of electric football play and interest. Our motto is: Integrity, Fellowship and Sportsmanship.” Electric Football on Wikipedia
Most of the first 4 years of the history of the MFCA can be traced by reading “The Tweak” – Official Magazine of the MFCA” which may be downloaded from the archives of the NEFGM Library.
Why Miniature Football?
So why was it not called the “Electric Football Coaches Association”? The simple answer is that the term “Electric Football” was a trademarked name owned by Tudor Games.
“The Dirty Dozen”
Affectionately known as “The Dirty Dozen” the MFCA was organized by a start-up committee of some of the most respected “coaches” of the game and hobby at the time, many of whom are still very active in the game today
Lynn “Weirdwolf” Schmidt, Al “Ravenna AL” Dunham, Matt “Silverhorse” Culp, Will “Williestyle” Travers, Bryan “Beenutt” Nutt, Mike “MTGUTT” Guttman, John “Obre” Obre, John “Coach J” Merida, Corey “Mr. National” Johnson, Andre “Broadway-Dre” Cogdell, Steve “Treks1” Martin, and Jamal “Biglock” Lockhart.
But it was mostly through the efforts of Lynn Schmidt as the MFCA’s first president and chief spokesperson, that the MFCA began to thrive and become nationally and internationally recognized and leading to the fulfilment of its purpose by “Unifying the miniature football hobbyist by promoting miniature football, educating the public and providing a unified association which recognizes and supports the diverse coaches and leagues.”
THe MFCA BOD
In the summer of 2009, it was decided to change the leadership of the MFCA to a BOARD of DIRECTORS. The first BOD was comprised of the following members:
Matthew Culp, Robert Don, Chris LeMay, Steve Martin, Lynn Schmidt, Will Travers and Mike Turner.
Later with the resignation of Will Travers, Ken Allen, Joe Greco and Corey Johnson were added to the BOD. Don Lang joined in 2010 with the resignation of Matthew Culp.
The BOD went through several more changes of membership and leadership, but through it all this group of dedicated individuals remained committed to growing the organization and making it the foremost authority on all things electric football.

You can still access the main website page and forum of the MFCA, however most of its content has become corrupted and inaccessible, but with enough searching and clicking on some of the links you can still find some interesting information regarding the MFCA such as this TOP 20 Greatest Coaches of Electric Football’s first 64 years.
Since I was a member of the MFCA for most of its existence and a member of the BOD for 5 years, I have a lot of information and documents related to the history of the MFCA saved in the files of the NEFGM Library and am constantly reviewing and researching these files for content to post on this website.
I have also been very fortunate to have people such as Lynn Schmidt and other former members of the MFCA donate items to the Museum for inclusion in the library and archives of the Museum. In case you missed it here is a blog post detailing the items received in the donation from Lynn.
Although the MFCA no longer exists as a formal tax-exempt organization, it does still remain as a Facebook Group with a membership following of over 4000 administered by Elgin Clemons and moderated by Kenneth Allen.

Please check back often for updates to this page. and learn more about the history of this great organization and some of the new things going on with this group.
