by Chris LeMay, Founder and Curator, The National ELECTRIC FOOTBALL Game Museum

On February 16,2025, we concluded our “Art of the Buzz – The Art and History of Electric Football” exhibit at Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center in Hendersonville, TN.

Art of the Buzz – The Art and History of ELECTRIC FOOTBALL

The Art of the Buzz is a celebration of the game and hobby through the many works of art featuring electric football as a subject. This year’s event was on display from January 25 – February 16, 2025, with an opening “Tailgate Party” Reception held on the 1/25 from 3pm – 6pm.

Prior to opening day and the reception, myself, NEFGM Board Member Ron Mango, staff of Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center and a personal friend Dennis Ullrich spent 3 days setting up and installing the exhibits and displays.

The exhibit is largely my personal collection of vintage game boards and game sets, original factory figures and teams, custom painted teams and other memorabilia and other artifacts that have been donated to the National ELECTRIC FOOTBALL Game Museum.   But it also featured a custom-built Tennessee Titans Nissan Stadium model, custom hand painted teams and other artwork by EF Artist Ron Mango. We also created custom game boards and custom painted teams of the 9 local Sumner County, TN High School football fields and teams that will be donated and presented to each of the schools at a later time. Local photographer, Rick Murray, also displayed some of his photography featuring the local high school football teams in action.

Here is a gallery of photos taken at the opening reception by Rick Murray.

The hit of the show was the Nissan Stadium model. According to Ron Mango it took 5 months and 1200 hours to build. Plans are for it to be auctioned off by Monthaven at a Gala Fund Raiser they will be hosting on May 1, 2025.

Overall, this was a fantastic event with many visitors and very well received by the community and visitors to the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center.
