Merry Christmas from the NEFGM

Well, it is that time of year again. What makes this time of year so special to the National ELELCTRIC FOOTBALL Game Museum??

Because it was as a Christmas present from our parents or Santa that so many of us received our first games of ELELCTRIC FOOTBALL. For me, it was Christmas of 1970 or 1971 (I can’t really remember which, but I think I was 13 years old which would make it 1970). Anyway, it was the first and only AFL version of electric football that Tudor produced featuring 2 AFL teams and a special edition game board. You can see a pic of that game here in our game collection section of the nefgm.org website: NEFGM Game Collections

It was also at Christmas of 1997 that I received my second game of electric football – a Tudor Games Super Bowl XXXI Electric Football Game set. It was that game that renewed my interest in the game and hobby after having been away from it for almost 25 years. Since that time, I have been on a journey that has been the heart and soul of my life and existence for the past 28 years.  (OK, I did get married again -very happily for the last 25 years – and had a very successful and rewarding career as a museum exhibit fabricator and installer for 15 years).

However, it has been my life as the Founder and Curator of the National Electric Football Game Museum since 2019, that has guided and sustained me into my retirement years. There is not a day that goes by now that I am not doing something in regard to electric football, whether it be thinking about it, writing about it, playing it, taking with other people about it, or collecting more electric football stuff. After all, can one have too much electric football in their life?? I don’t think so.

But back to the purpose of this post. In the months prior to the holiday season of 2021, I asked members of the ELECTRIC FOOTBALL Community to share their stories, pictures and memories of their Christmas Electric Football experiences. This is the video I put together from their responses.

Hope you enjoy and have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Keep those boards a buzzzzzin’….
