Big Board Construction

There have been many inquiries lately about building or buying “scale” game boards. The true scale of most miniature electric football figures is 1:72 scale or 1″ = 72″, this makes the true scale of the playing field 1/2″ = 1 yd or 60″ x 26 2/3 ” from endline to endline and sideline to sideline. To allow for sidelines the actual finished size would be larger.

Jerry Mcghee was the first that I know of to make a “Scale Big Board” electric football playing field. The year was 1998. I had the opportunity to play a game against Jerry on his original Big Board in 1999.

Playing on a Big Board opens up the game for more enjoyment and a better game play experience. I have built a smaller version using these plans as a guide to produce the  7/16″ = 1 yd scale game board pictured above.

Below are videos of another version of constucting a Big Board electric football game board.

  1. Unfortunately I’m not very handy & would never be able to make a scale field. If the price is reasonable I just might splurge for on so here’s the moment of truth. H9w much to purchase one?

  2. Tudor has a good option to consider. Their new Ultimate big games are 2ft X 4ft. Good selection of field covers too. They’re most expensive big game is $349. Toepro rules have been devised to make these Tudor hames play far more like the real game of football. I just bought one with the slightly smaller toepro field. Gives you room to put your idle players on the board. Lots of innovations are being made, bu EF players, to improve the game too. Better no tilt passes, punters and kickers are being produced to make kicking and throwing more accurate and realistic. Also offensive line alignment guides speed up the set up time and enact more spacing between linemen to better give the pass rush and linebackers oppprtunities fo stuff the run or sack the quarterback. EF is just starting to reach it’s potential and bigger fields give adults a game they can respect, enjoy and appreciate.
